The Raid is a short experimental film exploring themes of representation, identity and cultural narratives in response to the Stuart Hall archives.
Using ultra-slow-motion footage of two England team athletes performing super tackles, the film breaks down the physical intensity of Kabaddi into a delicate dance, revealing moments of precision, balance and unexpected beauty. By shifting how we see the sport and the bodies within it, the film invites audiences to reconsider familiar representations of South Asian identity, women and strength.
The title refers both to the act of raiding territory in Kabaddi and to reclaiming space on screen. Through movement, the film questions how people are represented, challenging stereotypes and exploring who gets seen and how.
